History: Young male hockey player with blunt trauma to the lower extremity.

Image A:  Long axis (LAX) over the right lower extremity  with a 12 MHz linear array transducer. Contralateral to ipsilateral comparison, as close as possible over the region of most pain.
What do you think?

1. Nondescript findings, no hematoma, no muscle tear

2. Disruption of muscle fascial planes with clearly defined intramuscular hematoma

3. Loss of deep muscle "pennate" muscle fibers consistent with a deep contusion of the muscle.
